Students benefit through programs, workshops, webinars or talks. Our aim at SCDC is to share relevant opportunities and knowledge to students for their development. SCDC handles general career & development topics (Eg. Personal Branding, Work Skills and Values, Resume Writing, Career Guidance, Personality in Careers, etc).
Talent Development Programs
The graduate accelerator program aims to develop outstanding students and award top performing students with exclusive opportunities including networking sessions with selected partners.
Another opportunity for students to strengthen their softskills and learn more about their pathway after graduating. Case studies, projects and games challenged them in the 3D2N bootcamp.
Webinar/Talks/Workshops/Industrial Visits
A workshop with Major Chew Kok Liang (Retired) was held at the SCDC Office, Block A, TAR UMT KL Campus, where he shared his experiences on working with MNCs or foreign companies with 11 students. The session helped students understand workplace expectations, cross-cultural communication, and career opportunities in multinational environments.
Speakers from PERKESO (Ms. Mas Nurhayati, Unit Head, Benefits – EIS Division), Graduan (Ms. Hannis, Senior Executive, PR & Events), and TAR UMT (Dr. Chan Ling Meng, Program Lead, FAFB) held a forum titled “Campus to Career: Your Rights, Benefits & Protections” which was conducted at the Auditorium, TTSS Building, TAR UMT KL Campus. Attended by 51 students, the session educated participants on employee rights, workplace benefits, and career readiness, equipping them with essential knowledge for a smooth transition into the workforce.
A group of 35 students participated in an industrial visit to PERKESO (Social Security Organization) at Menara PERKESO, Putrajaya. The session was led by Ms. Nur Fifiana Binti Aris, Engagement Manager at PERKESO, who provided an insightful overview of the organization’s functions, initiatives, and contribution to Malaysia’s social security system. Students also learned about potential career opportunities, workplace practices, and the key skills required to excel in the professional environment.
At the Pitching Hall, Level 6, SA Block, East Campus, TAR UMT KL Campus, 69 students attended a workshop conducted by Ms. Caryn Ng and Ms. Nursyuhada, Talent Acquisition Professionals from PwC. The session enhanced students’ professional branding through LinkedIn and improved their interview skills, helping them develop stronger networking, self-presentation, and employability chances.
A talk was delivered by Ir. Goh Su Kin, Group Chief Engineer at PGC Management, at the LP COE Room, Level 1, TTSS Building, attended by 26 students. The session exposed students to real-world engineering practices in the palm oil industry, enhancing their understanding of process optimization, sustainable operations, and career opportunities in industrial engineering.
A talk titled “KPMG Story and Brand That Makes the Impact” was conducted by Ms. Kue Wei Xin, Lead of Talent Acquisition, and Ms. Amalina Azhar, Lead of Employer Branding from KPMG Malaysia, at the Pitching Hall, Level 6, SA Block, East Campus, TAR UMT KL Campus. The session provided students with insights into KPMG’s corporate culture, branding strategies, and career pathways, fostering a deeper understanding of professional values and personal branding in the corporate world.
Students had a visit to Capco, learning how consulting helps businesses succeed with technology and customer focused ideas. The visit included panel talks and networking with important positions like Partner, the HR and senior consultants. Who shared their experiences and advice. It was a great chance for students to learn, make connections and explore consulting as a career.
Along with SCDC Staff, we brought 5 students from the Career Guidance Society (CGS) to Asia Pacific University (APU)'s Career Symposium. Going through panel discussions and networking sessions with HR and CEOs, students gained exposure of different campus culture, industries and knowledge about their career.
More than 30 students went to visit Cycle & Carriage, authorised dealer of Mercedes-Benz. Students learnt about career opportunities, history and processes of Cycle & Carriage, and skills needed for their future. The CFO and other personnel also shared their experiences.
Participants gained the experience with real-world skills related to resume writing and knowledge about job application platforms. They also learned tips & tricks on how to highlight their strengths and get their resume seen by employers.
LPI stands for Leonard Personality Inventory, which is developed by our Professor Leonard. Students going through this workshop learn how to attain emotional excellence which helps them in their life. The content includes understanding about the body, mind and heart and how different personalities react to the outside world and their career. Learn more about LPI below.

Students learned on how to improve their confidence and also the skills and characteristics needed to ace and land their first job. Speaker Mr. Aqmal Fikri shared with the students his experience and tips on what to expect for the upcoming workforce.
Mr Lau Seng Yee (SY Lau), former senior executive of Tencent Group shared his experiences about economics, geopolitics and how can we better prepare for our career and life views after the students graduate.
